English Functional Skills Level 1/2 City and Guilds

Upon successful completion of L1/L2 Foundation Skills, you may progress to Functional Skills. These courses are designed to help you to develop your English skills and apply them in real life situations. You will study modules in reading, writing, and speaking and listening. Assessments will be taken in all 3 components. This is the ideal course to do before a GCSE or another course that requires a good level of English.

ESOL Entry 1 – Reading

The second term will give you the chance to get a recognised qualification in reading.

ESOL Entry 1 – Writing

The third term will give you the chance to get a recognised qualification in writing. You will receive an Edexcel certificate if you pass the course.

ESOL Entry 2 – Reading

The second term will give you the chance to get a recognised qualification in reading.

ESOL Entry 2 – Writing

The third term will give you the chance to get a recognised qualification in writing. The Edexcel E2 Writing test will occur during the last week of the term and, if you pass this course, you will receive an Edexcel certificate.

ESOL Entry 3 – Reading

ESOL Literacy – Reading

This course is for learners who:

  1. May have learning difficulties which need to be identified with more precision. 
  2. Learners with literacy issues (perhaps in their own language too) with reading and writing but good speaking and listening skills.
  3. Learners who have passed the exam level below their class but who cannot reach the next level within the limits of our 10 week x 2 hour model for  a wide range of reasons.

ESOL Literacy – Writing

The Summer term will give you the chance to get a recognised qualification in writing.
