In the first 5 weeks we will work with you to build your confidence and skills, whatever your starting point.  In the second half of the course you will work on a project brief designed to develop the skills you have told us you want to develop so you have the opportunity to practice and quickly learn the skills you need.

English Foundation Skills Level 1/2

You will develop skills in reading, writing and speaking and listening, along with study skills you need to succeed in your further studies. You will also develop your confidence and employability skills to improve your work prospects to find work in the future. Students who successfully complete this course may progress onto Functional Skills in the Spring term. A good level of spoken English is required. Entry is by college based assessment. Learners who are not ready for this programme will be referred to other programmes.

Upon successful completion of L1/L2 Foundation Skills, you may progress to Functional Skills. These courses are designed to help you to develop your English skills and apply them in real life situations. You will study modules in reading, writing, and speaking and listening. Assessments will be taken in all 3 components. This is the ideal course to do before a GCSE or another course that requires a good level of English.
