Great news! PACA Adult Learning art tutor Emily Jolley’s painting Biodiversity has been shortlisted for the Sunday times watercolour competition and will be showing in the Mall Gallery, London 19th – 24th September.
The shortlisted works will be shown at the Mall Galleries, London from 19 – 24 September 2016, and will continue to tour to venues across the UK, including Parabola Arts centre, Cheltenham (24 – 29 October 2016) and Guildford House Gallery, Guildford (10 December 2016 – 28 January 2017).
The painting is part of a series of work Emily has been working on around the subject of Sites of Special Scientific Interest and this series is “Chalk down land” on Mount Caburn near Lewes, Sussex. The paintings look at the diversity of flora and density, the changes in colours through the months. With the help of Natural England, last year Emily took groups up on to Mount Caburn sketching and discussing the flora and the chalk downland and made this series of work.
