Starting in January we’re excited to be bringing a brand new Community Theatre course to PACA Adult Learning, Portslade, called “Let’s Get Creative! Putting On a Show”.

Community theatre course at PACA Adult LearningThis course gives grown-ups the chance to become the lead role in a play, to learn how to develop a piece of theatre and learn from a current performer. At the end of the course, participants will have made a show benefitting from experienced theatrical advice and they’ll have supported Rachel as she produces new work. This is a collaborative course, a new kind of learning that Rachel is very excited to be bringing to PACA Adult Learning.

Rachel is an experienced teacher with a first class degree in creative writing and Masters from Bath Spa. She will be sharing the development of her next show with course participants and using what she’s doing to teach them how to produce their own work. Last summer she took her 10 Mistakes show on a living room tour. Women volunteered their homes as a performance space for the show and invited their friends as an audience. During the show, she shared her poetry and audiences shared stories of the mistakes they made in their twenties. Together, Rachel, the audiences and the hosts made something magical; a show which brought people together and created a safe space for them to speak honestly and openly about their experiences.

Contribution helped create the show and this is exactly how this course will work for Rachel and all those who enrol.

The community theatre course starts on 14th January, 6.30-8.30pm at Chalky Road and runs for 10 weeks, book your place here.
