  • Supporting Learning activities and the curriculum.

  • COURSE CONTENT

    This qualification provides an in-depth understanding of the knowledge nd skills required when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools.

    It covers all aspects of Specialist Support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual and special needs support and personal development and reflective practice. It is also a must have for all those undertaking the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship.


    TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

    Workshops for the underpinning knowledge for all mandatory units.

    Workplace observations to confirm competence in the work place.

    1:1 sessions for in depth discussions of knowlege and work place assessment.


    COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Level 3 Diploma.

    You must be working in a school supporting the Teaching and Learning of the pupils. This could be as an INA, class TA, Mentor, specialist support or other support that is relevant to your setting.


    HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

    You complete a portfolio of work to show that you are competent to the standards (DFES).

    There is a process of quality checking, which is designed to make sure that the qualification is quality driven. The final portfolio is checked by CACHE, the awarding body, to check standards are maintained in line with other providers country wide.


    EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

    You will need to put aside between 3-5 hours each week to complete the work. Remember that the sessions at college are only fortnightly (term time) so that equates to only18 sessions.
