Spanish Intermediate - Term 3

Learn Spanish in 10 weeks at Portslade Adult Learning

During this term the lessons will be via internet. We will use Google Meet and we will complement the different sessions with feedbacks via email, phone calls (to discuss any possible queries that may arise) and to set homework. Moodle will be populated with resources every week (presentations and activities). WhatssApp / Skype / Google.meet / Zoom calls will be encouraged (unsupervised by the tutor). Class discussion, group activities and games, written tasks, reading and listening activities. During this term we will study how to tell/ narrate stories contrasting the Pluperfect and the Preterite in Spanish. We will talk about our free time: television, cinema, theater and internet, with special emphasis on social networks and new technologies. We will be looking at food preferences and healthy eating habits, and the use of the impersonal "SE". We will talk every week about current affairs in class.

  • La narración. Introducción al Pretérito Pluscuamperfecto de Indicativo. Contraste entre el Pretérito y el Pluscuamperfecto. YA, AÚN.
  • Hablando de nuestro tiempo libre: La televisión, la literatura, el cine, el teatro e internet.
  • Introducción al modo Imperativo (formal, informal y negativo). El Imperativo con pronombres personales. Verbos regulares e irregulares.
  • El modo Subjuntivo: El Presente de Subjuntivo (verbos regulares e irregulares). Sugerencias y recomendaciones para las vacaciones. Consejos.
  • Otros usos y expresiones con Subjuntivo: Deseos / molestias, planes y dudas.
  • El Condicional. ¿Qué harías? Deseos y sueños. Gustos.
  • El Imperfecto de Subjuntivo: Uso del Condicional con el Imperfecto de Subjuntivo.

Completion of Spanish Beginners and Improvers classes.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

Progress is checked informally through questioning and answering sessions in class, monitoring of group and pair work activities, feedback and homework.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

You will make greater progress if you do at least one or two hours of study at home in between the classes.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

Notepad, pen, Pasos 2 textbook and your laptop/computer.

There will be a follow-on course at PACA. You will be able to discuss this with your tutor.
