COURSE CONTENT

– The future tense.
– Comparative and superlative forms.
– Describing different forms of transport.
– Planning a journey and describing a future holiday.
– Describe the weather and the seasons.
– Different expressions with TENER.
– Useful telephone language.
– The present continuous tense.

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Buy tickets at the station and ask about arrival and departure times.
  • Talk about a future holiday.
  • Talk about the weather and describe the seasons.
  • Describe how you are feeling.
  • Make and answer a phone call in Spanish.
  • Describe and explain what you are doing at the moment.

TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

The emphasis is on learning through communication, though grammar points will also be taught as appropriate.

Teaching will be done through whole class work, individual work and small group and pair work.

Methods of learning include role play, listening activities, games, music and interactive activities.


COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Some basic knowledge of Spanish (aobut 1 year of prior study) is necessary for this course.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

Progress is checked informally through question and answer sessions in class, monitoring of group and pair work activities, feedback and homework.

There is no formal accreditation for this course.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

You will make greater progress if you do at least one hour of study at home in between the classes.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

We will be using PASOS book 1 (Student book) for this course. This book also comes with a CD. These items may sometimes be found in secondhand bookshops.


WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

There will be a follow-on course at PACA after Easter. You will be able to discuss this with your tutor.
