For this course you must bring in a garment that you wish to change dramatically. You may choose to add another fabric, change/remove collar or cuffs, alter length, reshape etc. A selection of fabrics, braids, ribbons, buttons etc is available to purchase - or bring your own to use and swap.​ It will be great fun!

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Deconstruct and remake a garment.
  • Learn how a garment is put together.
  • Experiment with trims, buttons and lace etc.
  • Reshape a garment.

  • COURSE CONTENT

    You must bring a garment that you wish to change dramatically. Do ot bring a garment that you are vry precious about or you may be too afraid to alter it. You may choose to add another fabric, change or remove the collar or cuffs, alter the length of sleeves or reshape.


    TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS


    COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Students shoud have basic knowledge of a domestic sewing maching.


    HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

    Observation of students' work.
    Student feedback.
    Question and answer session to check progress and level of understanding.
    Encourage students to always ask if they are unsure.


    EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

    Optional.


    MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

    A garment that you wish to alter dramatically.
    Unpicker.
    Notepad and pen.
    Tailoring scissors (if possible).
    Pins.
    Tape measure.
    Tailoring chalk.
    Matching sewing thread.
    Zip, butttons and trims will be available for purchase.
