  • Promote effective communication and information handling in residential childcare settings
  • Support risk management in residential childcare
  • Assessment and planning with children and young people in residential childcare
  • Support group living in residential childcare
  • Understand how to support positive outcomes for children and young people in residential childcare
  • Support attachment and positive relationships for children and young people in residential childcare
  • Support the well-being and resilience of children and young people in residential childcare
  • Support children and young people in residential childcare to achieve their learning potential
  • Support children and young people in residential childcare to manage their health
  • Support the development of socially aware behaviour with children and young people in residential childcare
  • Engage in professional development in residential childcare settings
  • Support the rights, diversity and equality of children and young people in residential childcare
  • Participate in teams to benefit children and young people in residential childcare
  • COURSE CONTENT

    Learners must achieve 61 credits.

    53 credits must be achieved from Mandatory Units

    Learners must also complete a minimum of 3 Optional Units, to achieve a minimum of 8 credits.


    TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

    This qualification is delivered either on a one to one basis, or small groups at the learner/s work premises.

    A portfolio is competed to show the knowledge and skills necessary to work int his sector as well as observation of practice and product.


    COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    A good level of English is expecrted but no formal entry requirments apart from working in the sector.


    HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

    Internally and externally moderated to ensure consistency.


    EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

    You will be require to complete work set by your assesor this may be at home or at work depending on your employer.


    MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

    A leaver arch file with poly pockets and file dividers.
