COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • To develop confidence and self- awareness
  • To develop the ability to write in the appropriate academic tone and format
  • To develop skills of critical analysis and reflective practice.
  • Research career opportunities In The Health And Social Care Professions
  • COURSE CONTENT

    This qualification is aimed at learners interested in, or new to, working in adult social care in England. It aims to introduce knowledge around the following areas relating to working in adult social care:

    • communication
    • equality, diversity and inclusion
    • personal development
    • role of the social care worker
    • handling information
    • health and safety
    • safeguarding
    • dutyofcare
    • person-centred approaches.


    TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

    • Lectures.
    • Seminars.
    • Tutorials.
    • Workshops.
    • Assignments.
    • Presentations.
    • Independent study.

    Please note that students will be expected to meet deadlines, conduct research and take part in group activities.


    COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    No formal qualifications are required. However, the interview process will include a literacy and numeracy assessment and students should achieve level 2 or above in these assessments.


    HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

    Regular homework assignments and 1:1 tutorials.


    EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

    An additional 3-4 hours of home study is required.


    MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

    Pen; paper; folder and dividers. The recommended reading list will be provided at the interview.
