Award in Counselling Level 3

Counselling level 3 is the ideal course for anyone who would like to develop counselling skills for use in work or in a personal capacity. Topics covered include working ethically in helping relationships and understanding the importance of self-development in relation to helping others. This qualification is designed for anyone who’d like to develop their use of counselling skills for use in either work or in a personal capacity. This may be learners who wish to progress towards further qualifications, or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (eg health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work). 

Introduction to Digital Photography Part 1

The aim will be to gain confidence using your camera so that you take better images. The course will cover topics such as image composition and exposure, how to focus accurately and the effect on images of shutter speed and aperture as well as explore taking images using a variety of camera modes. We will also look at different kinds of creative photography to suit all interests and look at some of the history of photography for inspiration!

Lino/Wood cutting printing for beginners

This course is an Introduction to printmaking process and will develop existing printmaking skills through personal projects. We will look at ways to develop sketches artwork into final prints. Explore ways of producing prints for narrative. Develop use of sketchbooks as a means of exploring ideas.

Spanish Improvers – Term 1

This course is for those who have already done the beginners level and possess a basic knowledge of the languageDuring this term you will learn about: talking about likes and dislikes: pastimes, activities, food, describe what you do in your free time, express opinions – say what you think of your home town, accepting and refusing invitations, giving reasons and saying how you feel, explaining problems and giving advice, talk about future plans, arranging to go to the cinema, describing different types of films, the verb : GUSTAR, adjectives of feeling and object pronouns

Pilates and Relaxation Techniques

A perfect course if you wish to condition your body and mind. It includes a beneficial relaxation section in the final stages of each session. Pilates teaches awareness and control of the body. This body awareness is taught through eight principles: postural symmetry, corseting, control and flow of movement, strength, relaxation and breathing. This type of exercise is suitable for everyone. It is particularly safe and effective for those with back problems and is often recommended by osteopaths and chiropractors

Italian For Improvers – Term 1

In the Italian improvers course you will learn about: understanding and using medium to complex sentences, interacting efficiently with native speakers, describe and express opinion about clothes, give and ask for suggestions, talk about memories and describe habits in the past, describe physical and personality aspects of a person, compare people and analyze psychological aspects of a person, ask politely for something and express desire and hypothesis.

Italian For Beginners – Term 1

In the Italian beginners autumn term you will learn about: Interacting with native speakers, asking and answering simple questions, greeting people and introducing yourself, introducing someone, asking and giving personal details, asking for spelling of words, nationality and age, asking for and giving telephone numbers, ordering in a café, restaurant, asking prices and bills and speaking formally

Introduction to Print Making

This is an exciting course which will enable you to gain experience of and explore different printmaking techniques. This will include Monoprinting and Relief printmaking, including – Lino cuts, foam block, collography and wood cut. You will get the chance to produce your own individual prints in a fun and supportive environment. You will need to supply the tools to start off, this would be about £20 and would include cutting tools, roller, and basic inks and a printing plate.

Floristry for Beginners

Learn how to make beautiful flower designs. This course is for those who love bringing flowers into their home, or who are flower arranging for events or considering a career in floristry. An introduction into basic floristry techniques so that you will be able to create designs for your home. Materials and equipment are extra.

There will be regular demonstrations throughout the ten weeks. There is always lots of friendly help and advice on hand throughout the duration of the course. Each course covers new themes so that repeat students can enjoy new subjects each time.

Working with Job Centre Plus we will be putting on a series of courses designed to help you get back into the workplace giving you some insight into a variety of industries as well as a qualification at the end of the course.

The courses will last for one week and each day will be from 10.00 – 14.00

Understanding Children and Young Peoples Mental Health

The purpose of this qualification is to increase learner’s knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health.

AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3

This challenging qualification follows on from the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping and will enable you to develop a wide range of detailed accounting skills that are highly valued by employers.
You will study five units covering a wide range of technical subject areas including advanced bookkeeping, final accounts preparation, cost and management accounting, VAT, using spreadsheet software and professional ethics for accountants.
Exam fees for the first sitting of each exam are included in the course fee. AAT registration fees and any exam resit fees are not included.
You will need to have excellent levels of spoken and written English and very high levels of numeracy. You should also be able to use Microsoft Excel, at least to a basic level. Experience of working in a finance environment is highly desirable, although not essential.
