COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the term 'Ayurveda'.
  • Know the personalities of the Vata, Pitta and Kapha profiles, and be able to recognise oneself in each of them.
  • Ability to choose and warm oils for practical work.
  • Demonstrate a scalp infusion and effective massage to relax and rejuvenate the face muscles.
  • Awareness of the Sans Krit terms for each marna point on the face.
  • Demonstrate safety and respect to each other throughout the treatment.

  • COURSE CONTENT

    By the end of the course, learners will understand the term 'Ayurveda' and be able to recognise individual dosha profiles. Also, learners will develop an awareness of relaxation and breathing techniques, as well as be able to choose and warm oils for practical demonstration. Learners will learn gentle and effective circular pressure massage for the face and head, working into the marna points/energy points. Finally, learners will gain an understanding of how to balance and re-energise the whole body.

    Clear handouts and demonstrations.

    No experience necessary.


    HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

    Question and answer sessions.
    Feedback session at the end of the class.
    Observation of practical work.
    One to one feedbackduring class time.
    Evaluation forms at the beginning and end of the class.


    EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

    Practice should happen at home naturally. Perhaps a diary could be kept recording response to treatments.


    MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

    Notepad and pen.
    Cushion/pillow.
    Something comfortable to lie on – a sleeping bag or yoga mat would suffice.
    Blanket.
    Water.
