COURSE CONTENT

The students will achieve an interactive knowledge for talking and communicating with native speakers. They will be skilled to create complex sentences using the correct verbs’ tenses (Passato Prossimo/Imperfetto/Passato Remoto/Condizionale/Congiuntivo) and conjugations. Likewise, the students will be encouraged to use the correct gender and numbers for the adjectives learned so far.

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Interact competently with native speakers.
  • Describe and express opinion about real life situations.
  • Ask and give indications.
  • Ask formally and informally for things
  • Tell stories, habits and memories of the past.
  • Express wishes and suggestions.

TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

Throughout the course, students will work mostly in groups; there will be also activities to be completed in pairs and individually. The lessons are purposeful for each linguistic area using varies learning methods; speaking activities, writing, listening, and gist and detailed reading. The beginning of each lesson will have a group discussion and review of what has been learnt so far. This is an opportunity to gather the students’ opinions in order that their skills can been improved with the language rehearsal via Videocorsi.


COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A good or at the least a moderate level of understanding of Italian grammar and culture. Students should be able to use past and present tenses (with their respective regular and irregular forms), to put across their experiences and describe places and people.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

In each lesson there will be tests and exercises which will contain the grammar covered during the lesson. At the completion of every two/three units there will a group exercise called: “Facciamo il punto della situazione” (Let’s assess the situation) where the students will be tested and the results will be discussed with the tutor.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

The homework will be assigned at the end of each lesson. The students are encouraged to create a personal book with all the lexis and grammar examples acquired during the lessons. The students are also invited to practise the language by using the ALMATV website, which holds additional listening exercises, videos and grammar explanation with short films.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

The book that will be used during the course is: “Nuovo Espresso – A2” – Alma Edizioni – (Student book). It is recommended to bring your own notebook.
