COURSE CONTENT

This course is for those with some experience of Irish step dancing. Those that have come from the 'beginners' course will be progressing to more challenging steps and group dances. If you are new to this course, you will need to know how to dance a reel.

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Learn the Slip Jig.
  • Learn more complex steps.
  • Practice steps from the first term.
  • Improve upon technique e.g posture, timing and footwork.
  • Learn Set (group) dances.

TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

Demonstrations by tutor.
Video recordings (for practice outside of class).
Learning from and with other students.


COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This course is for those that have done a beginners term of 10 weeks. If you are new to this course, you will need to know how to dance a reel.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

Observation of students, question / answer session and one to one conversation.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

It is always good for students to practice in between classes.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

Bottle of drinking water; plimsols or dance shoes/trainers and clothing that you can dance in.
