Learn how to carry out a traditional Indian Head Massage, including massaging the head, shoulders, neck and face.

COURSE CONTENT

The course includes a brief history of Indian Head Massage and outlines its physical and mental benefits. Learners will also learn relaxation and breath awareness techniques. This is a beautfiul routine covering head, neck, shoulders and face using a selection of essential oils with properties that can be used to enhance a massage.

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Know the origins of Indian Head Massage.
  • Understand the physical and mental health benefits of Indian Head Massage.
  • Awareness of simple breathing and relaxation techniques.
  • Ability to select at least one essential oil with properties that enhance a massage.
  • Demonstrate a simple, yet effective massage, covering shoulders, neck, head and face.
  • Demonstrate safety throughout the treatment.

Tutor lecturing.

COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

No previous experience is necessary. Be prepared to work with other class members.

Question and answer sessions.
Feedback session at the end of the class.
Observation of practical work.
One to one feedback.
Evaluation forms at the beginning and end of the course.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

Practice should happen naturally at home. Perhaps a diary could be kept, recording response to massage.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

Notepad and pen.
Cushion.
