Learn how to play popular songs on the guitar in a fun and friendly environment. You will discover how to read guitar tab and chord charts, strum chords confidently, finger pick and improvise. No experience needed – just bring yourself an an acoustic guitar.

COURSE CONTENT

Learn major and minor chords.
Learn to read tab and understand fret-board technique.
Learn timing and how to play as a group and also learn solo pieces.
Play and sing a wide variety of popular songs.

COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • To learn a varied repertoire of popular songs.
  • Technique : strumming, finger picking, lead guitar.
  • Play songs as part of the group.
  • Name different parts of the guitar.
  • Learn to read chord charts and tab.
  • Sing, play songs and have fun.

TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

Students are taught good finger board technique and are given much freedom to explore their own individual style of strumming and picking melodies. Students will learn excellent practising techniques and receive individual help from the tutor.

No experience needed.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

Revisiting earlier pieces, to check learning.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

Extra study or practice of guitar between lessons is essential.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

You will need to bring your own acoustic guitar, a plectrum, pencil and an A4 folder to store music.
