COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Develop and understanding of the relationship between learning to see and learning to draw.
  • Experiment with different drawing techniques.
  • Use different types of drawing implements/surfaces.
  • Explore the history of drawing and have an understanding of contemporary drawing practise.
  • Develop your skills and potential.
  • Acquire skills in evaluating your own work.
  • COURSE CONTENT

    The course involves drawing from direct observation, still life, landscapes, self portrait and photographs with an emphasis on space, volume, simple perspective and other techniques and concepts.

    Seeing/Drawing skills will be developed and mark making, value, line and line quality will be explored.

    MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

    Pencils

    • H, HB, B, 2B, 4B, 6B,
    • 2H, 4H.
    • Charcoal pencils

    Paper

    • Cartridge paper any size.

    Other materials may be needed, this will be discussed throughout the course.
