COURSE CONTENT

We will look how Dementia can affect not only the sufferer but also those that are caring for them. Strategies will be explored that will support the care that is given and what can be done to help day to day activities for all involved.

Learners will develop an understanding and awareness of the causes of dementia, and understand the complexity of communication is important for people with Dementia.

Techniques will be explored to help day to day living.

  • Understanding what is a person centred approach
  • Understand communication
  • Understand Equality and Diversity and inclusion in Dementia care
  • Exploring ways to help when caring for someone with Dementia

Workshops, group activities, assignments and research, case studies


COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

None, although a want to understand the subject is important and could be a stepping stone to work in the care sector.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

There is a process of Quality checking which is designed to make sure that the qualification is quality driven. The final portfolio is checked by the awarding body to check standards are maintained in line with other providers’ country wide, after an internal quality check.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

You will need to put aside between 1-2 hours of extra study each week to complete assignments or research that is set.
