  • Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care.
  • Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care.
  • Awareness of communication in adult social care.
  • Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the adult social care worker.

TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

A variety of teaching and learning methods will be used on the course, including short lectures, group discussions, group exercises, individual work and the use of audio visual material.


COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students should feel reasonably confident expressing their ideas in written form.


HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

A course folder of work is regularly checked. There are short homework tasks to complete.


EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

Students will need to allow about one hour a week for further set activities, reading and revision.


MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

Please bring a pen, highlighters, an A4 folder and A4 notepaper to the first lesson.
