COURSE AIMS/OBJECTIVES

  • Work towards improved personal wellbeing.
  • Discover strategies to help yourself and others.
  • Make friends and discover new interests.
  • Have time to reflect.
  • Have fun.

  • COURSE CONTENT

Think what happiness means to you. How do you connect with other people? How do you relate to the world around you? Have you given up trying – or would you like to try again? Would you like to set some goals? Is there something holding you back? Are you in touch with your emotions? Do you love who you are? Is there a purpose and meaning to your life?

With a different focus each week, you will take positive ACTION towards a happier and more fulfilling life.

    TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS

Although this is a personal odyssey, you will share the journey with others. You may work in pairs or in a group, as well as on your own. Be prepared to participate in discussions; to sing, tell stories and share anecdotes. You will be invited to bring in music that makes you feel good. You will also get creative – drawing and writing (do not worry if you have not done it before, it is fun to have a go) and we will start each session with a five-minute relaxation.

From week one, you will start to create your own Happiness Manual – a record of your progress, and evidence that you are taking positive steps to improve your wellbeing.

    COURSE LEVEL/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Open to anyone, but please come along with an open mind and a willingness to participate.

HOW PROGRESS IS CHECKED DURING COURSE

As you are working continually towards improved personal wellbeing, you will be checking in with yourself all the time. You may share your experiences with the class or gain individual feedback from your tutor. Your Happiness Manual will grow each week and you may refer back to it at any time.

EXTRA STUDY OR PRACTICE REQUIRED AT HOME

Fun, reflective exercise as directed by your tutor.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO THE COURSE

Pen and coloured felt tips or pencils.

    WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

    Your tutor will advise.
